ROCK HILL S.C. (Sept. 12, 2009)-Maja Jechorek notched 13 kills, eight digs and added two blocks to lead Appalachian State to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-16) non-conference win on Saturday in the final match of the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational at the Winthrop Coliseum.
With the loss, Morgan State fell to 4-9 on the season and went 1-2 over the weekend.
Christa Rogers tallied 18 assists and 11 digs for her third double-double of the season. Ivanti Bush finished with a nine kills and 10 digs and Dina Beamon added 11 digs.
The Mountaineers (3-6) had a .219 hitting percentage, while holding Morgan to -.018 for the match. Kasey Sauls notched 29 assists and 10 digs and Cassie Engelgan had a match-high 15 digs for Appalachian State.
Morgan State's Kierra Riley tied her season high by collecting five blocks, including three solo and Rogers added four, to help the Lady Bears out block the Mountaineers 8-6. It marked the ninth opponent Morgan has out blocked this season.
The Lady Bears return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 15, when they take on crosstown rival UMBC. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the RAC Arena.
