ROCK HILL S.C. (Sept. 11, 2009)-Erin Cox tallied a match-high 18 of Morgan State's 40 kills and added nine digs to lead Morgan State to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-14) non-conference sweep of North Carolina Central (NCCU) on Friday evening in the second match of the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational, hosted by Winthrop.

 

Ivanti Bush added seven kills and recorded a team-high 10 digs for the Lady Bears, while Christa Rogers finished with 31 assists and eight digs.

 

Morgan State (4-8), which in 12 matches has already surpassed its three win total of a year ago, totaled 40 kills to 25 by the Eagles. Morgan State, which improved to 3-0 all-time against NCCU, finished with a .237 hitting percentage, while holding the Eagles to -.049.

 

NCCU (1-9), which on Thursday was admitted into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), was led by Kiara Brown's double-double of 22 assists and 10 digs. Shantel Moore and Avaniki Campbell collected eight and seven kills, respectively, while Aurora Baker had a match-high 13 digs.

 

The Lady Bears conclude the invitational on Saturday with a non-conference match against Appalachian State.
