Erin Cox earned MVP honors at the NC State Hilton RTP Classic.
RALEIGH, N.C. (Aug. 29, 2009)-Morgan State's Erin Cox was named MVP of the NC State Hilton RTP Classic. The 5-foot-9 sophomore, averaged 11.5 kills and 5.75 digs per match, while helping the Lady Bears to a 1-3 mark over the weekend.
A native of Baltimore, Cox, who finished with a total of 46 kills, led the team in kills in three matches and was tied for the team lead in the other. Cox recorded a career-high 17 kills and added 10 digs in a tough five set loss to Campbell, to earn her first double-double of the season.
Cox concluded the classic with 13 kills, a hitting percentage of .303, four blocks, an ace and six digs to help Morgan State record its first win of the season in the finale against Davidson. The victory marked the first time since the 2006 season that Morgan State has began the season winning a match within its first four contests played.
Joining Cox on the all-tournament team were Ashley Weers and Caitlin Bendy of Campbell, Amanda Hill of Charleston Southern, Sarabeth Peeler of Davidson and Isis Gardner of host NC State.
