Erin Cox finished with 14 kills and 10 digs Friday morning against Bethune-Cookman.
BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 20, 2009)-Morgan State's Ivanti Bush tallied a team-high 15 kills and added 10 digs, while sophomore Erin Cox also finished with a double-double, contributing 14 kills and 10 digs, but it wasn't enough, as Morgan State dropped a 3-1 (28-30, 25-18, 20-25, 17-25) decision to Bethune-Cookman in a quarterfinal match of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship volleyball tournament on Friday morning at the Coppin Center.
Bush, who ended her collegiate career recording her 25th double-double, concluded her career with 1,040 kills, which ranks 10th on the Morgan State charts. Her 3,262 attack attempts ranks third and her 768 digs ranks 10th all-time at Morgan State.
With the loss, Morgan State (9-22) has been eliminated from the 2009 MEAC Championship. The loss also marked the Lady Bears' first-ever to Bethune-Cookman in their five meetings during the MEAC Championship and dropped Morgan State to 13-4 all-time against the Lady Wildcats.
Bethune-Cookman (13-14), who was the No. 3 seed in the MEAC South Division, was led by Chelle Ticeson and Kaiyana Johnson, who both totaled a team-high 15 kills. Jessica Wilson added 13 kills for the Lady Wildcats, who move on and will face the winner of Maryland Eastern Shore and Norfolk State on Saturday in a semifinal match at noon.
