ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- The Morgan State men's basketball team entered tonight's matchup attempting to record its first regular season sweep against South Carolina State in almost three decades.

MSU had defeated the South Carolina State in Baltimore earlier this season, but tonight in SHM Center was a different outcome. The Bulldogs shot 60 percent from the field and limited MSU to shooting 39 percent as they dropped the Bears 76-55.

It was MSU's second consecutive 20-point loss and left the team 7-13 overall and .500 in the conference with a 5-5 MEAC record.

SCSU (12-9, 5-5) junior guard Brandon Trapp lit the Bears up for 20 points, including a 4-for-6 outing from three-point territory. The Bulldogs also got 16 points off the bench from freshman guard Derrick Davis.

Senior center Aaron Andrews led MSU's efforts as he recorded his fifth double-double of the season by scoring a team-high 17 points with 10 rebounds. Sophomore forward Karanvir Aujla was the only other Bear to reach double figures with 10 points.

The Bulldogs controlled the game from start to finish. The Bears were trailing 14-11 at the 10:55 mark when SCSU bolted out to a 15-2 run over the next five minutes. A three-pointer by Trapp gave the Bulldogs a 29-13 lead with 4:26 remaining. The Bulldogs ended the half with a commanding 31-18 lead. MSU had a tough time finding their target in the first half as they shot a dismal 26 percent (6-26 FG) from the field.

The second half scoring improved for the Bears, however it also improved for SCSU. The Bulldogs shot a blistering 78 percent in the second half and MSU never came closer than 18 points.

MSU will next take on the Aggies of North Carolina A&T, Monday night at the Corbett Sports Complex in Greensboro, NC at 7:30 p.m.
