The Lady Bears were down early, and could not battle back in suffering an 89-54 loss to the Howard University Lady Bison on Saturday in Washington, D.C.

Morgan State (1-9, 0-3 MEAC) saw Howard run off 13 consecutive points after the opening tip, and the Lady Bears were never closer than 10 points the rest of the day. Howard (6-4, 2-0 MEAC) forced 31 turnovers and dominated play on the boards to put the game away early.

HU out-rebounded Morgan State 60-44, and completed controlled the offensive glass 28-17. That combination proved to be too much for the Lady Bears to overcome as, MSU dropped their fourth game in a row in front of 833 fans at Howard's Burr Gymnasium.

The Lady Bison were more aggressive on both ends of the floor, and MSU was unable to match their intensity.

The Lady Bears were able to place three players in double figures for the day. Sarissa Gaskins led the way for Morgan State with 14 points.  Candace Holmes had a 12 point afternoon to go along with a team high 7 rebounds. Markeda Hollingsworth poured in 10 points.

MSU shot only 2 of 10 from beyond the arc, and hit 8 of 18 free throws. The Lady Bears shot 34% from the field, and only 28% in the 2nd half.

Howard was able to place 5 players in double figures. 

HU's Andrea Jones had a double/double, scoring 14 points and collecting 16 rebounds. Daisha Hicks led the team with 19 points. Brittany James had a 13 point day, while Melloni Benson and Simone Agee had 12 points apiece.

The Lady Bears hope to get back on track Monday night when they visit the Lady Hornets of Delaware State in Dover, DE. The game is set for  a 5:30p.m. tip time.
