EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Morgan State men's basketball team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 70-57 loss against Seton Hall on Monday night at Continental Airlines Arena. The Bears fell to 3-9 overall, but recorded one of its best road efforts of the season. The Bears held a five point lead in the second half, but were unable to hold off a run by the Pirates in the end.

Morgan State held a 46-41 lead with 11:22 to play after Timothy Berkley sank the second of two free throws to give MSU its largest lead of the game. After a pair of jumpers from Justin Cerasoli and Donald Copeland got the Pirates within one at 46-45, MSU's Joseph McLean answered with a basket of his own to make it 48-45 with 9:57 remaining. SHU then launched a decisive 15-0 run over the next 5:39 to play. The Pirates went 10-for-10 from the foul line down the stretch to keep the Bears out of reach.

MSU trailed 35-32 lead at the break and outshot the Pirates 46.7 - 37.8 percent in the first half. SHU built a 19-11 lead after Andre Sweet put in a layup at the 11:54 mark, but MSU came right back to take a 24-23 lead with 6:54 to play in the first period. Kelly Whitney scored the final six points of the half to help the Pirates lead by three at half.

Whitney led all scorers with 19 points to go along with eight rebounds. J.R. Morris added 14 points, while John Allen and Andre Sweet score 13 and 10 respectively.

MSU was led by senior center Aaron Andrews. Andrews finished the game with a team-high 13 points, six rebounds, four steals and a block. Ronald Timus and Alfonso Evans scored 10 points each and Timothy Mathis chipped in 9 points with 4 assists.

The Bears outshot Seton Hall 41.8 - 39.7 percent from the floor, but were outrebounded by a 43-30 margin. The Pirates also took advantage of its attempts from the free line line as they knocked-down 17-of-21 (81%) from the stripe compared to just 7-of-10for MSU. The Bears committed 18 turnovers that led to 21 points for SHU.

The Bears will face MEAC competition when they tip-off with Howard on Saturday, December 8th in Washington, D.C.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
