PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Tim Berkley scored a career-high 16 points to help Morgan State extend to its first three-game winning streak of the season as they dropped Md-Eastern Shore 80-60 in the Hytche Center.

The victory marked the Bears largest win of the season and its first win on the road since last year's victory against Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 17, 2004).

Morgan State improved to 6-11 overall and 4-3 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, while the Hawks losing streak was extended to 13.

Berkley, a 6-foot-8 sophomore center, scored 10 of his team-high 16 points as the Bears outscored the Hawks during a decisive 23-3 run. MSU held a 63-36 lead at the 10:16 mark and coasted to its fourth conference win of the season.

UMES forward Tim Parham recorded a double-double as he paced the Hawks with a game-high 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Corey Brown chipped in 15 points while Ryan Leak added nine.

Morgan State led for the entire game, shot 52.5 percent from the field, 63.2 percent from the free-throw line, and outrebounded the Hawks by a 33-29 margin.

The Bears jumped out to a 16-4 lead at the 15:04 mark following a basket by Karanvir Aujla. But the Hawks responded, with Tim Parham hitting a lay-up at 11:00 to cut the MSU advantage to seven points.

The Bears lead was cut to five with just under six minutes left when Parham scored his 11th point of the half. The Bears answered by forcing the Hawks into committing seven turnovers as they closed out the half on a 16-7 run. MSU held a commanding 40-26 lead at the intermission.

Sam Brand finished with 15 points for the Bears, while Karanvir Aujla and Aaron Andrews each scored 13 points in the win.

The Bears will host Norfolk State on Saturday, January 29th in Hill Field House. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m.
