The Morgan State Bears played well from the tip-off to the final buzzer as they snapped a five-game losing streak by defeating Bethune-Cookman 77-62 at Hill Field House in front of 927 fans.

Sam Brand had another big night for the Bears as he scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second half. The Baltimore native was a perfect 8-for-8 from the stripe and connected on 4-of-6 from 3-point territory.

With the game tied at 34 during the intermission, Morgan State (4-11, 2-3) came out and turned up their defensive pressure. As a result, B-CC struggled to get into their offensive sets and ended up committing 13-of-25 turnovers in the second half to help the Bears pull away.

Bethune-Cookman (6-8, 3-2) had no answers for senior Aaron Andrews. The 6-5 center dominated the paint and finished the game with his fourth double-double of the season as he recorded 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Karanvir Aujla was inserted into the starting line-up for just the second time this season and he continues to provide a lift for the Bears. The sophomore sharp-shooter finished the game with 11 points (3-6 3FG) and dished out four assists. Senior Chris Grant and sophomore Aaron Lawler chipped in six points each.

B-CC was forced into a fouling mode late in the game in an attempt to chip into MSU's 64-53 lead with 3:40 remaining. However, the Bears stepped-up and knocked down free throws down the stretch to ice the game as they improved their home record to 4-1. MSU finished the contest by shooting 21-for-31 from the stripe (67.7%).

B-CC's Diondre Larmond and Anis Taylor finished the contest with 13 points each and Antonio Webb collected 10 points with 2 assists.

Morgan State will be back in action on Monday night (Jan. 17) when they host Florida A&M at 7:30 p.m. in Hill Field House.
