The Morgan State Lady Bears had a most productive Saturday at the MSU Volleyball Invitational at Hill Field House. MSU scored wins over Wagner & St. Francis.
After dropping their first two matches of the tournament on Friday, the Lady Bears came back in fine fashion on Saturday.
MSU (3-7, 0-0 MEAC) opened the day with a thrilling Saturday morning win over Wagner 3-2 (30-28,23-30,33-31,26-30,15-12). The Morgan/Wagner match was the only 5-game match of the tournament.
The Lady Bears battled to defeat Wagner in come from behind fashion in the 5th and deciding game to claim their first win of the tournament.
Esther Johnson led the way with 17 kills and 18 digs. Adria Boyd had a big day, delivering a 16 kill performance. Korrine Lewis added 11 kills to the cause.
MSU completed tournament play with a win over St. Francis on Saturday afternoon 3-1 (26-30,30-12,30-21,30-21).Â
Esther Johnson had another spectacular match, contributing 14 kills to go along with her 18 digs.
Ashley Alexander made a big 13 kill splash in the match, while Korrine Lewis had a 12 kill effort.
MSU finished third in the tournament with an overall 2-2 record behind tournament champion Princeton 4-0 and Bucknell 3-1.
