The Morgan State Lady Bears defeated Coppin State Tuesday night to remain perfect in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. MSU controlled the match from start to finish to record a win over their cross-town rival 3-0 (30-27, 30-15, 30-27).
MSU (10-12, 3-0 MEAC) got a test from the Lady Eagles in the 1st game, but managed to battle back from a late game deficit to take control down the stretch and secure the win. In Game 2 it was clear sailing for the Lady Bears as they dominated the Lady Eagles, holding them to a -.029 hitting percentage.
MSU put the Lady Eagles away in the final game to register their third consecutive victory.
The leading ladies for MSU were Esther Johnson and Korinne Lewis. Ms. Johnson had a 17 kill evening, while Ms. lewis put down 12 kills.
Defensively MSU was led by Ashley Preston who collected 14 digs. Lauren Adams had a career high 12 digs for Morgan State.
The Lady Bears return to action on Thursday, October 7th when they take on Howard University at Hill Field House. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00p.m.
