The Morgan State University Lady Bears (0-11, 0-3 MEAC) never found any offense all night long, and were unable to mount a serious run in their 53-31 defeat to the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers at Hill Field House on Monday night.
The loss extends MSU's MEAC losing streak to 31 consecutive games. The Lady Bears shot only 20% from the field, and were 0 for 11 from beyond the arc. The free throw line was also a problem, as MSU hit only 9 of 20 from the charity stripe.
MSU scored a season low 31 points, and only went to the locker room at intermission with only 11 1st half points. Morgan State shot a season low 17% from the field in the 1st half.
The Lady Bears did play strong defensively, as FAMU shot only 35% for the game. However, the lack of any offense resulted in the Lady Rattlers never seriously being threatened.
The only Lady Bear in double figures was freshman Whitney Johnson who poured in 11 points on 4 of 9 shooting from the floor.
Junior Candace Holmes led the way on the boards with 5 rebounds, while sophomore Jennyffer Vargas blocked 4 FAMU shots.
FAMU was led by Kim Watson and Yolanda Dixon who poured in 16 points apiece. Watson enjoyed a double/double as she pulled down 11 rebounds.
