Box Score

The Morgan State University Lady Bears (0-10, 0-2 MEAC) are still searching for that first victory of the season.  MSU had a tough time against the Bethune-Cookman College Lady Wildcats, and fell 75-46 in a game played Saturday afternoon at Hill Filed House on the MSU campus.

The Lady Bears shot only 30% from the field, and turned the ball over 22 times as they lost their 30th consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.

MSU had trouble from beyond the arc, as they hit only 1 of 11 from 3-point land.  The Lady Bears weren't effective from the charity stripe, connecting on 11 of 20 free throws.

Morgan State held a 14-12 lead with 11:36 remaining in the 1st half after a bucket by Whitney Johnson.  However, the 'Cats struck back quickly.  When Jessica Stephens hit a 3-pointer with 10:06 left, the Lady 'Cats grabbed a lead they would never give up.

MSU managed to stay close , but a 10-2 BCC run, aided by some Morgan State turnovers, gave the Lady  'Cats a comfortable cushion going into the locker room.

In the 2nd half, it was all BCC (2-5, 1-0 MEAC).  The Lady Wildcats outscored MSU 43-22 after the break, and never looked back on their way to their 1st MEAC win of the season.

MSU was led by Whitney Johnson who poured in 16 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the field.

The only other Lady Bear in double figures was Candace Holmes who had 10 points and a team high 7 rebounds.

Sophomore Jennyffer Vargas had a career high 7 blocks against BCC.

The Lady Wildcats placed 3 players in double figures. Jessica Stephens lead all scorers with 19 points.  Sarah Johnson had a 17 point evening, and Katie Clark had a 13 point afternoon.

The Lady Bears return to action on Monday evening when they will host the Rattlerettes of Florida A&M in a game set to tip-off at 5:30p.m. at Hill Field House.
