Whitney Johnson leads Lady Bears with career high 16 point performance vs. BCC.

The Morgan State University Lady Bears (0-10, 0-2 MEAC) are still searching for that first victory of the season. MSU had a tough time against the Bethune-Cookman College Lady Wildcats, and fell 75-46 in a game played Saturday afternoon at Hill Filed House on the MSU campus.
The Lady Bears shot only 30% from the field, and turned the ball over 22 times as they lost their 30th consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest.
MSU had trouble from beyond the arc, as they hit only 1 of 11 from 3-point land. The Lady Bears weren't effective from the charity stripe, connecting on 11 of 20 free throws.
Morgan State held a 14-12 lead with 11:36 remaining in the 1st half after a bucket by Whitney Johnson. However, the 'Cats struck back quickly. When Jessica Stephens hit a 3-pointer with 10:06 left, the Lady 'Cats grabbed a lead they would never give up.
MSU managed to stay close , but a 10-2 BCC run, aided by some Morgan State turnovers, gave the Lady 'Cats a comfortable cushion going into the locker room.
In the 2nd half, it was all BCC (2-5, 1-0 MEAC). The Lady Wildcats outscored MSU 43-22 after the break, and never looked back on their way to their 1st MEAC win of the season.
MSU was led by Whitney Johnson who poured in 16 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the field.
The only other Lady Bear in double figures was Candace Holmes who had 10 points and a team high 7 rebounds.
Sophomore Jennyffer Vargas had a career high 7 blocks against BCC.
The Lady Wildcats placed 3 players in double figures. Jessica Stephens lead all scorers with 19 points. Sarah Johnson had a 17 point evening, and Katie Clark had a 13 point afternoon.
The Lady Bears return to action on Monday evening when they will host the Rattlerettes of Florida A&M in a game set to tip-off at 5:30p.m. at Hill Field House.
