Lady Bears Fall In Consolation Game Of Hyatt Regency Atlanta Invitational

The Morgan State University Lady Bears (0-8, 0-1 MEAC) continue their search for that 1st win of the season.  MSU came up short in the consolation game of the Hyatt Regency Invitational.  The Lady Bears fell to Savannah State 61-52 Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Tigers of Savannah State (2-9) had a 34-25 lead at the half, and Morgan State could never make a serious run in the 2nd half.

Morgan State shot only 30% from the field and turned the ball over 29 times in the game played at the Georgia State Sports Center in Atlanta, GA.  The tournament was part of a two day affair hosted by Georgia State.

Only one Lady Bear scored in double figures for the afternoon.  Senior Erinn Coleman lead the Lady Bears with 10 points.

Ms. Coleman earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Latricia Jones scored 8 points and pulled down a team high 9 rebounds.

Junior Candace Holmes had an 8 point, 6 rebound effort for the Lady Bears.

MSU had a tough time from beyond the 3-point arc.  The Lady Bears hit only 2 of 15 shots from 3 point range.  The ladies also hurt themselves from the charity stripe, hitting only 12 of 23 free throws.

Savannah State was led by Caroline Moore who had 16 points on the day. Tiffany Stephens had 13 points and 9 rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Bears will return to action on Monday, December 22, 2003 when they will play their first home game of the season.  MSU will take on Towson University at Hill Field House on the MSU campus.

Tip time for the Lady Bears and Lady Tigers is 7:00p.m.
