Candace Holmes had a Double/Double vs. Murray State

The Morgan State University Lady Bears (0-2, 0-0 MEAC) got out to a very slow start, and would never fully recover enroute to a 66-42 setback to the Racers of Murray State on Saturday afternoon.
The Morgan State/Murray State encounter was the consolation game of the two day, Marshal University Classic held in Huntington, WV on the Marshall University campus. The Lady Bears were defeated by Marshall on Friday night (88-34), and were unable to get in the win column against the Racers on Saturday.
MSU fell behind 20-3 to start the game, and were never able to get within striking distance for the remainder of the contest. The Lady Bears had shooting problems, as they made on 28% of their field goals for the game and just 15% in the 1st half.
Turnovers continue to be a problem. MSU turned the ball over 29 times. On Friday evening against Marshall, the Lady Bears committed 36 turnovers.
Morgan did do a better job on the boards. MSU was out-rebounded by only 39-38 for the game, and the Lady Bears had an 18-15 edge on the offensive glass.
MSU was led by senior Erinn Coleman (Sacramento, CA/Sheldon HS), who poured in 16 points. 15 of Erinn's points came after intermission. Coleman was 5 of 8 from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line.
Juco transfer Candace Holmes (Fairfield, CA/Solano C.C.) also had a strong effort. MS. Holmes  produced the first double/double of the year for the Lady Bears. Candace had 12 points and a team high 12 rebounds. She was also a perfect 3 for 3 from the free throw line.
Murray State was led by Rebecca Remington and Stacy Holmes who scored 15 points apiece for the Racers.
The Lady Bears return to action on Tuesday evening Nov. 25th when they travel to Annapolis, MD to take on Navy. That contest is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00p.m.
