BALTIMORE, Md.Morgan State University wide receiver Tommy “Taco” Manus has signed a rookie free agent deal with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.

Manus became the fifth Bear in three seasons to make the jump to the professional ranks during Donald Hill-Eley’s tenure as MSU head coach.

“First of all I’m happy for Tommy,” said Hill. “Tommy did all that was asked of him while he was here at Morgan State.”

Manus led all Morgan State receivers in 2004 with 64 receptions for 658 yards and 6 TDs as a senior. He averaged 59.8 yards receiving per game and tied a school record by recording 12 receptions against South Carolina State. He finished with a season-high 119 yards on 8 catches against Bethune-Cookman and was a 2nd-team All-MEAC performer a senior. Manus saw action in every game as a junior and finished as the team's leading receiver with 40 receptions for 578 yards and 4 TD receptions. In 2003, Manus collected a season-high 51-yard reception against South Carolina State and posted a season-high 12 receptions for 146 yards and a TD against Savannah State.

Manus joins three other players on the Ravens roster that have played at a Historically Black College & University (HBCU). The list includes: Orlando Brown (South Carolina State); Marques Ogden (Howard); and Randy Hymes (Grambling State).

“He has good size and speed, and I’m sure the Ravens will find him an asset, just as he was for us,” said Hill.

“Our Taco has truly become a Taco-Supreme.”

Manus transferred to Morgan State as a JUCO All-American at Fort Scott C.C. (KS). Manus was a three-sport prep athlete at Spruce (Dallas, TX) HS and finished in second place in the 400m State Finals. He helped lead Spruce to a 23-7 record in three years. Manus also played power forward on Spruce’s basketball team and led his team to first round of the playoffs. He was a two-time selection to the Coca Cola All-Star Game. Manus was born in Dallas, TX.
