Shawn Gooden

Shawn Gooden was hired as the Assistant Director for Fiscal Operations for the Athletics Department in March 2005. As the department's fiscal officer, he manages the athletic department's annual $13 million operating budget and long-range financial forecasting. In addition, he is the sport supervisor for bowling and men’s and women's track and Field programs. 

Gooden returned to Morgan State University after serving as the Coordinator of Support Services in the Center of Academic Retention and Enhancement at Florida State University. 

Additionally at Florida State, Gooden held two assistantships; one in the Seminole Ticket Office and the second teaching courses within the Sports Management Department while pursuing his terminal degree. 

Prior to his arrival at Florida State in August 2002, Gooden served as the Assistant Business Manager at Florida A&M University for one year (2001-2002), and the Assistant Business Manager at Morgan State University for two years (1999-01). He was a Graduate Assistant at Howard University from 1997 to 1999, after beginning his athletics career at Cuyahoga Community College where he was an Assistant to the Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics beginning in 1995. 

A former wrestler at Howard University, he graduated with a Bachelor's of Business Administration Degree in management in 1995. He earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education with the concentration in Sport Marketing from Howard University in 1999.

Gooden is a member of the College Athletic Business Managers Association, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association, Inc. Besides serving on numerous finance and planning committees during his career, he also has helped direct several NCAA and conference championships including MEAC Volleyball, Track & Field, and Softball events in 1999, 2000 and 2006.
