Robert Day is a veteran strength and conditioning professional with more than 13 years of experience across NCAA Division I, II, and III athletics. He is known for elevating athletic performance, modernizing training systems, and developing championship-caliber student-athletes through a holistic, data-driven, and evidence-based approach.
Before joining Morgan State, Day served as the Director of Strength & Conditioning at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he oversaw performance for 19 varsity programs, working primarily with football, volleyball, and field hockey. During his tenure, 17 of the 19 teams achieved winning seasons. He also expanded the department’s graduate assistant program and established a performance nutrition center and staff.
Prior to IUP, Day spent five years as the Director of Strength & Conditioning at Robert Morris University, designing and supervising programs for 17 Division I sports. He worked closely with football, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and volleyball, and was instrumental in building long-term performance infrastructure for the department. His earlier experience includes head strength and conditioning roles at Shippensburg University and Millersville University.
Day has also contributed to elite football environments through volunteer roles with the United States Naval Academy, Penn State University, the University of Delaware, and Villanova University. In addition, he has volunteered with Mount St. Mary’s University basketball programs.
A former collegiate men’s lacrosse player at the University of Lynchburg, Day has coached lacrosse at multiple levels and brings a deep understanding of multi-sport athlete development.
He holds two master’s degrees—one in Exercise Science (Performance Enhancement & Injury Prevention) from California University of Pennsylvania, and another in Sport Science (Sport & Exercise Psychology) from Lock Haven University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Lynchburg. Day maintains certifications through the CSCCa (SCCC), NSCA (CSCS, RSCC), USA Weightlifting, FMS, Precision Nutrition, ALTIS, FRC, and RPR, along with First Aid/CPR/AED credentials.
Coach Day brings to Morgan State a relentless commitment to athlete development, program sustainability, and competitive excellence. His work is driven by a passion for building strong, resilient student-athletes prepared to excel on and off the field.
Day resides in the greater Philadelphia area with his wife, Tarah, their son, Troy, and their daughters, Gianna and Harper.
