Brittany Dodson

Brittany Dodson enters her second season as an assistant coach with the Morgan State women’s basketball program. No stranger to Morgan State, Dodson played for four seasons for the Lady Bears and head coach Donald Beasley from 2008-11.

Dodson had her best season as a Lady Bear as a senior during the 2010-11 campaign, which was also a historic one in the program’s history. That year she led the Lady Bears in scoring (11.2) and was second in steals (37) and assists with 61, while leading Morgan State to its second straight regular season runner-up finish in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and a No. 2 seed in the MEAC Tournament, its highest seed ever. Morgan State also made its first-ever postseason appearance on the Division I level when it received the league’s automatic bid to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT).

Dodson set season-highs during her senior season in points (327), rebounds per game (4.1), blocks with three and assists with 70. She was one of the team’s most consistent free throw shooters, shooting 78 percent from the line and began the season connecting on 23 straight free throw attempts. She notched double figures in scoring 20 times and set a career-high with 26 points in a win over George Washington on 8-of-13 shooting. In the final game of her career, she scored a game-high 18 points, recorded a game-high four steals and added two rebounds and an assist against Virginia in the first round of the WNIT.

As a freshman, she produced her second-best all-around season, averaging 7.5 points, while scoring 224 total points and pulling down 2.5 boards, 35 assists and 31 steals to help the Lady Bears set the program’s Division I record for wins with a 19-12 mark.

A native of Saint Louis, Mo., Dodson ended her career with 904 points scored, 332 rebounds, 145 assists, four blocks and ranks eighth all-time at Morgan State in career steals with 142. Dodson graduated from Morgan State in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and telecommunications.
