Biography
2012-13 (Junior): Stewart rewrote the Morgan State record book by breaking the school record in the weight throw three times and recorded personal-best throws on numerous occasions during the indoor track season … He won the season opener meet at the Navy Invitational with a throw of 18.70m, and was named the MEAC Athlete of the Week … Competed amongst an elite field at the prestigious Armory Collegiate Meet in New York where he finished 5th with a throw of 18.86m … He won the weight throw at the MEAC Indoor Championships with a personal best throw of 18.93m, setting a new MEAC and school record … He was later selected to the All-MEAC First Team … Qualified for postseason competition and later competed at the IC4A Indoor Championships in Boston where he finished 6th overall amongst some of the best athletes on the East Coast … He wrapped up the indoor track & field season ranked as the number one (1) athlete in the MEAC and 67th in the nation.
2011-2012 (Sophomore): In the 2011-2012 indoor season, Stewart retained his MEAC indoor Weight Throw title setting a new MEAC and school record of 18.01m ... He also qualified for the IC4A Championships in the weight throw and for the first time in the Shot Put ... He placed 6th in the Weight Throw ... In the Outdoor season, he also retained his javelin throw title at the MEAC Outdoor Championship with a throw of 63m and placed second in the Discus Throw and was named MEAC Most Outstanding Field Athlete ... Stewart also captured his first IC4A Outdoor Championship title in the discus throw with a throw of 53m ... He then moved onto the NCAA Outdoor East Regional Track and Field Championships where he placed 4th in the Discus throw setting a new school record at 56.75m ... Finally his season culminated at the NCAA National Championship where he placed 15th with a throw of 54.99m and made All American Second Team ... He was also a member of the USTFCCCA all academic team.
2010-2011 (Freshman): As a freshman, it was the first time throwing the weight which proved to be quite an enjoyable event ... After getting off to a fairly good start, he qualified for the MEAC Championships ... Due to the compacted competition schedule, his technique solidified and his distances improved ... As a result of that he set a new school record of 17.35m and also went on to winning the MEAC championship in the Weight Throw setting a new MEAC record of 16.75m, also qualifying for the IC4A Championship ... After finishing the indoor season, Stewart went in the outdoor season, a bit unprepared, but due to experience in the outdoor field he was able to get his footing quickly ... With his primary focus on the Javelin and the Discus, he was able to qualify for the MEAC and IC4A Championships in his first meet ... Moving on to the MEAC Championship, he dominated both the Discus and Javelin competition ... He moved on to the IC4A Championships where he placed 12th in the Discus competition.
Personal: Born March, 12th, 1989 … Son on Styrling Stewart & Ann Marie Stewart … Has three siblings Lois Stewart, Esther Stewart and Joshua Stewart … Hobbies include swimming, playing music and training ... Egineering major.
