Located at the corner of Hillen Road and Arlington Avenue, Lois T. Murray Field is home to the Morgan State University Lady Bears’ softball team.
After more than a decade of talks and planning for an upgraded on campus softball facility, the dream became a reality, when Morgan State debuted its newly refurbished home field on Saturday, April 1, 2017.Â
The project cost $80,000 and consisted of the infield being completely dug up and redone. New home and visitor dugouts were built, as well as a new backstop and fence around the playing surface were installed and topped off with a windscreen along the entire outfield fence.Â
The facility also featured for the first-time, two pitching warm-up areas, one along each side of the baselines, a batting cage, which is on the home side of the field, as well as stationary bleachers situated near the home and visitor dugouts. Portable restrooms are also located on the visitor side of the field.Â
Improvements were made prior to the start of the 2019 season, as an additional set of permanent bleachers were constructed behind home plate to increase the overall seating capacity to its current total of 150.
In addition, the area behind the home plate backstop was also completely resurfaced to accommodate media and gameday operations.Â
Limited spectator parking is located at Lois T. Murray Field next to the playing field.
