BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 11, 2026) — The Morgan State men's cross country team turned in a solid performance Friday afternoon at the Delaware State Sting Invitational, placing third in the team standings on a beautiful day in Smyrna, Delaware.
The Bears finished with 85 points, behind host Delaware State, which captured the team title with 22 points. Coppin State finished second with 47 points, followed by Morgan State (85), Maryland Eastern Shore (100), Lincoln (Pa.) (143), Bowie State (165) and Cheyney (180).
"We showed signs of improvement with both teams. However, we still have a lot of work ahead of us," said Morgan State head coach Neville Hodge. "We will continue to progress each week leading up to the conference championship."
Sophomore Natnael Gebremariam led the Bears with a top-10 performance, finishing eighth overall in the 6K with a time of 16:14.1, averaging 5:13.5 per mile. Gebremariam continues to make a strong impression early in his sophomore campaign.
Sophomore Miguel Graham finished 14th in 17:29.1, while freshman Isaiah Smith was the next Morgan runner across the finish line, placing 18th in 17:44.0.
Freshman Cyrus Noel Jr. followed in 20th place with a time of 18:08.3, while sophomore Keenan Frisby finished 26th in 18:31.5.
Freshman Lael Espinal placed 31st in 19:03.0, followed by freshman Jaxon Collins, who finished 37th in 19:56.0.
Sophomore Joshua Moore rounded out the Morgan State lineup, placing 38th with a time of 20:22.6.
The Bears will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they compete at the UMES Soaring Hawks Invite in Princess Anne, Md.
