Morgan State Drops Series Finale To Howard

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 12, 2026)--Visiting Howard would score eight runs on eight hits on Sunday afternoon to complete a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series sweep of Morgan State, following an 8-0 win over the Lady Bears in five innings at Lois T. Murray Field.

Morgan State (8-23, 5-10 MEAC), which has lost its past six games, dropped back-to-back MEAC series for the first time this season.

Howard (21-13, 14-1 MEAC), the defending MEAC champions, extended its winning streak to a season-long 12 games and has now won 13 consecutive MEAC series, dating back to the 2024.

The Bison plated three runs in the first inning to jump out to a 3-0 advantage. C Castille and M Taylor delivered back-to-back RBI singles to give the guests a 2-0 lead. Castille later scored on a double steal attempt to increase the guests lead to 3-0.

The score would stay that way until the Bison put the game away, scoring five runs in the fifth inning. Ames-Alexander homered down the left field line to bring in three runs and Taylor later hit a two-run home run to left field for the game's final score.

The Bison were led by Ames-Alexander and Taylor, who both recorded 3 RBI. Castille and Taylor each tallied two hits, while Ames-Alexander and Castille each scored twice.

Morgan State was paced by Cassie White and Millie Cousins, who both went 2-for-3 on the afternoon. Gianna Ettore recorded the Lady Bears other hit.

Next Up: Morgan State will head to Virginia's Tidewater area next weekend to take on Norfolk State in a three-game MEAC series (Saturday, April 18-Sunday, April 19). The series gets underway with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and concludes with a single game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for the Spartans Senior Day. All three games will be played at TowneBank Softball Field in Norfolk, Va.

Norfolk State (18-17, 8-7 MEAC) is riding a four-game losing skid, including being swept the last three games by Coppin State over the weekend. The Spartans' comeback in the series finale on Sunday fell short, as the host Eagles held off Norfolk State 4-3.
