Pre-Seeds Announced for 2026 EIWA Wrestling Championships

Eugene Harney Headlines 149-Pound Bracket, Earns Top Spot

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 3, 20226) -- The Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association announced the preliminary seeds for the 2026 EIWA Championships, with American University set to host the 122nd annual tournament March 6–7 at Bender Arena. Tickets are available at aueagles.com/tickets.

Eugene Harney (149) earned the program's highest pre-seed, checking in at No. 1 heading into this weekend's conference tournament. With the top seed, Harney will advance directly to the quarterfinals when competition begins.

Junior Cort Vann (174) also secured a top-eight pre-seed in his respective weight class, positioning himself for a strong run at the championship and earning placement among the conference's top contenders.

Head coach Kenny Monday expressed confidence in his squad heading into the conference championship.

"I feel good about where our seeds are in the EIWA. We have an opportunity to really have a great performance and qualify some wrestlers for the NCAA tournament in a few weeks. It's March Matness and anything can happen. Like I always tell the team, anybody can be beaten on any given day!"

"Eugene Harney earning the number 1 seed in our second year in the EIWA conference is monumental for the program."
