NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2026) – The Morgan State men's basketball team withstood a late rally by Niagara to secure a 73-67 victory over the Purple Eagles on Saturday night at the Gallagher Center.

Morgan State (3-0) outrebounded Niagara, 42-29, and improved to 2-0 all-time against the Purple Eagles.

Keith Richard led all scorers with 22 points, shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. Alfred Worrell Jr. added 20 points and eight rebounds, while newcomer Oliver Spence contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 21 minutes off the bench.

The Bears faced an early 11-point deficit after Cole Farrell converted a pair of free throws to give Niagara a 22-11 advantage with 11:19 remaining in the first half. Morgan State responded with a dominant stretch, using a pair of free throws from Spence and a 3-pointer by Worrell to ignite a 27-0 run that extended into the second half.

Jeremiah Kwarteng capped the impressive run with a fast-break basket, giving the Bears a 50-34 lead with 16:59 remaining.

Richard later delivered a pivotal four-point play, knocking down a 3-pointer while drawing a foul in front of the Morgan State bench. His ensuing free throw gave the Bears a 68-57 advantage with just over four minutes remaining.

Niagara (0-2) refused to go away, however, putting together a 10-2 run capped by a layup from Fidel Rotta to pull within one, 68-67, with 2:19 remaining.

Spence converted one of two free throws to push the Morgan State lead to 69-67. The Purple Eagles had two opportunities to take the lead from beyond the arc, but Bastien Rieber and Samuele Miccoli were unable to connect.

With Niagara forced to foul, Richard stepped to the line with 23 seconds remaining and calmly converted both free throws to help seal the Bears' third consecutive victory.
