BALTIMORE, Md. (July 8, 2025) – Morgan State University's wrestling program has officially secured a major talent in Rohan "RJ" Bucknor.
Bucknor, a standout from Bullis School in Maryland, has signed his National Letter of Intent, reaffirming his commitment to representing the Blue and Orange. This highly anticipated signing was formally announced by Morgan State head coach Kenny Monday, marking a significant boost for the Bears' roster.
Bucknor's decision to join Morgan State highlights the program's growing appeal under Coach Monday, a decorated Olympian and a key figure in the team's resurgence. As a top-tier prospect, his presence is expected to bring immediate high-level talent and energy to the wrestling room.
Coach Monday expressed great enthusiasm for Bucknor's arrival, highlighting the importance of such a high-caliber recruit in building a championship-contending team.

Bucknor's prep record truly showcases his exceptional potential. During his senior year, he posted a strong 19-4 record at 138 lbs, demonstrating dominance with 9 pins, 5 technical falls, and two major decisions. Besides his impressive skills on the mat, Bucknor shows strong leadership and character, having been named a 2025 NWCA High School Character & Leadership All-American. This prestigious national award from the National Wrestling Coaches Association highlights not only his athletic talent but also his integrity and positive influence.
Bucknor excels both on and off the mat, boasting tournament wins, top rankings, and a solid record, which has earned him national recognition for his leadership and character. He is a well-rounded athlete and the latest addition to Morgan State, helping to continue the growth of the wrestling program.
