WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 19, 2025)--Morgan State wrapped up its series against Beltway rival Howard and dropped an 11-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) decision in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Nationals Youth Academy. The game was live on ESPN+.

Morgan State, which has now dropped seven straight games, fell to 13-26 on the season and 9-9 in the MEAC. Howard, winners of a season-long 12-game winning streak, which ties the program record for consecutive victories set last season, improved to 23-17, 17-1 MEAC. Â

The Bison used four home runs to jump out to an 8-0 lead through the first three innings.

Lealani Ricks homered to left field with bases loaded to give the hosts a 4-0 lead in the second inning. Kenna Higa then stepped to the plate and homered to left field to make it a 5-0 game. The Bison weren't done yet, as Lauryn Jones was next up and joined in on the action, as she hit the ball to center field and rounded the bases for an inside the park home run, as Howard increased its lead to 6-0 with back-to-back-to-back home runs.

Howard went back to work in the third inning when Bri Martinez hit a two-run homer to left field to score Ameenah Ballenger and up the Bison lead to 8-0 after three innings.

The Bison would conclude their scoring with three more runs in the fourth inning. Sidney Fletcher singled to right field to bring in two runs and Martinez singled through the right side to score Fletcher for the 11
th run of the day.

Howard finished the game scoring 11 runs on 14 hits and had 11 RBI. Ricks went 1-for-2 with a run and a game-high 4 RBI, while Martinez added 3 RBI, going 2-for-3 with a run. Fletcher went 2-for-3 with two runs and 2 RBI, while Ballenger also was 2-for-3 with two runs.

Millie Cousins and
Morgan Harrell-Alvarez each went 2-for-2 and Olivia Pagana finished 1-for-2 to account for the Lady Bears' five hits.

Next Up: The Lady Bears will close out their non-conference slate on Wednesday, April 23, when they visit Rider for a doubleheader. First pitch is at 1 p.m. from Lawrenceville, N.J.
