WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 30, 2025)—The Morgan State women's tennis team concluded this year's three-day Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round-Up, hosted by Howard University, with a 5-2 loss to North Carolina Central on Sunday at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus.
Morgan State (4-13, 0-4 MEAC) took an early 1-0 lead after winning two-out-of-three doubles contests.
Aleksandra Evdokimova and
Marta Serra Carles earned a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles and
Hannah Smith and
Lauryn Hall secured a 6-4 victory at No. 1 position to give the Lady Bears a 1-0 lead.
NCCU (9-7, 4-0 MEAC) picked up wins at the No. 4 and No. 2 singles positions to take a 2-1 lead over Morgan State.
Smith evened the score for Morgan State at 2-2 with her No. 3 singles over the Eagles' Mariana Zottoli 6-3, 6-4.
The Eagles would win the remaining three singles contests to earn the 5-2 win over Morgan State.
Next Up: Morgan State returns to action next Tuesday, April 8 when it travels to Towson, Md. to take on the Towson Tigers.
