DOVER, Del. (Feb. 23, 2025)--The Morgan State bowling team concluded the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season over the weekend competing in the MEAC #2 Meet at Doverama bowling alley, hosted by Delaware State.

The Lady Bears (32-31, 10-4 MEAC), who entered the meet sitting in second place in the league standings with a 6-1 mark, went 4-3 to finish MEAC regular season slate in third place. North Carolina A&T (12-2 MEAC) captured its fifth straight MEAC regular season title and defending MEAC champion Maryland Eastern Shore (11-3 MEAC) finished second.

Morgan State began the weekend earning a win over sixth-ranked North Carolina A&T, 965-937. However, that would be the lone win on Saturday for the Lady Bears. Morgan would fall to Alabama-Birmingham (1,004-1,069), Howard (867-954) and 18
th-ranked Maryland Eastern Shore (873-940) to conclude Day 1 with a 1-3 record.

On Sunday, the Lady Bears regrouped, going a perfect 3-0 on the day. Morgan State defeated 21
st-ranked Delaware State (1,017-953) then knocked off Norfolk State (906-866) and Coppin State (979-841) to finish in third.

Morgan State was led by
Cheyenne Washington, who totaled 1,390 pins in the two days for an average of 198.57. Washington recorded a high game of 226 on the opening day against Alabama-Birmingham.

Kyra Italien totaled 1,360 pins for an average of 170.00 and
Kiara Smith collected 1,353 pins for an average of 193.28. Italien rolled a high game of 215 in the win over #6 N.C. A&T, while Smith had a high game of 222 against UMES.

Next Up: Morgan State will now travel to Fort Worth, Texas to compete in the Bulldog Classic at Cityview Lanes, hosted by Louisiana Tech (Feb. 28-March 2).
