BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 22, 2025)--The Morgan State softball team returned to the field on Saturday afternoon to host Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU) for the Lady Bears' home opener at Lois T. Murray Field. The game would be the Lady Bears' first contest in a span of eight days, in which a total of six games, including two home series, would be canceled due to inclement weather.

The Lady Bears, however, would drop the home- and series-opener against the visiting Knights, 1-0.
FDU (1-5), which outhit Morgan State 7-3, would score the lone run of the game in the fifth inning, when M Rishel singled to center field to score C Quezada for game winner. Rishel would lead the Knights, going 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, while Quezada finished 2-for-3 with a run scored.

B Shroyer (1-2) got the win for FDU. Shroyer surrendered three hits and struck out nine Morgan State batters in seven innings of work.

Olivia Garner,
Amber Rivas and
Olivia Pagano each recorded a hit for Morgan State (1-7), who has now dropped seven straight games, since its season-opening win over Notre Dame.

Serena Rodriguez (0-2) went the distance for Morgan and tossed a strikeout.

The Lady Bears and Knights will conclude their three-game series with a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Lois T. Murray Field. First pitch is at 11 a.m. with Game 2 scheduled for 1 p.m.
