BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 20 2025)--The Lady Bears have had an impressive season thus far, but they have their eyes set on a different goal. The Morgan State bowling team has reached the title match of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championship three times, but it's never won. This season just might provide the Lady Bears with yet another opportunity to accomplish that feat.
 Â
Prior to the MEAC Championship (March 21-23) in Raliegh, N.C., there are still a couple of matches and tournaments that the Lady Bears have remaining to refine their skills. This weekend Morgan State will travel to Dover, Del. to wrap up the MEAC regular season with the MEAC #2 event, hosted by Delaware State.
Â
The Lady Bears enter this weekend currently sitting in second place in the MEAC standings after going 6-1 during the first MEAC event of the season back in November in Greensboro, N.C. Morgan State's only loss would come against host North Carolina A&T State, which sits atop the league with an unblemished 7-0 record.Â
Â
But if the Lady Bears want to do damage in the MEAC tournament they will need some stand-out performances. Specifically, from graduate student
Cheyenne Washington who had a spectacular showing in the Northeast Classic tournament. They will also turn to seniors
Carrington Beaman and
Kiara Smith who both had amazing showings in the most recent James Brown Invitational, hosted by Morgan State.
Â
The MEAC does provide stiff competition as always. UMES, who is the defending champions, has been a proven powerhouse in the past and bode a good team again. North Carolina A&T has won three of the last four MEAC titles. The Aggies have even had very competitive games against #1 ranked Vanderbilt, even winning a match!
Â
It is never too early to look ahead to the most anticipated tournament of the year, and how the Lady Bears will fare in it.Â
