DURHAM, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2025)--Morgan State's two-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) winning streak came to an end on Monday evening, as the Lady Bears dropped a 71-53 decision on the road at North Carolina Central in McDougald-McLendon Arena.

North Carolina Central (7-17, 4-5 MEAC) ended a three-game losing skid with the win and avenged its loss to Morgan State earlier this season. The Eagles, who trail the all-time series 19-8, have won three of the last four meetings with Morgan.

Kyla Bryant knocked down 9-of-9 at the free throw line and scored a game-high 16 points to lead North Carolina Central. Morgan Callahan tallied a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while also adding a game-high six assists, three blocks and three steals. Shakiri Foster added 14 points, four boards and three steals.

Morgan State (11-13, 4-5 MEAC) was led by Nia Green scored a team- and season-high 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Naya Ojukwu scored 13 points, grabbed four rebounds and recorded a team-high three blocks.

The Lady Bears took a 17-16 lead when Green scored on a layup with 8:38 to play in the second quarter. NCCU scored the next seven points in the midst of an 18-4 run, capped off by a three-pointer by Tierney Coleman to give the Eagles a 34-21 lead with 2:10 remaining in the period. Morgan State would close out the quarter, scoring the final five points to cut the deficit to 34-26 at the break.

Morgan State slowly cut into the Eagles' lead and a layup by Green with 9:46 to play in the fourth quarter, brought the guests within three points at 51-48. NCCU scored the next seven points to trigger a 16-2 spurt to extend the hosts lead to 67-50 after Bryant hit a free throw to complete a three-point play with 2:36 left in the game.

The Lady Bears will head home to welcome the Bison of Howard to Hill Field House on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. for Greek Day. Howard (15-9, 8-1 MEAC), winners of five straight was a 72-59 winner over visiting Maryland Eastern Shore on Monday. The Bison defeated Morgan State earlier this season, 75-56 in Washington, D.C. (1/11).
