Bears Endure Tough Slate vs. No. 10 NC State, Davidson at Journeymen Jostle

FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (Dec. 7, 2025) -- Morgan State wrestling headed to Willow Spring High School on Sunday afternoon for matchups against No. 10 NC State and Davidson at the Journeymen Jostle.

The Bears (0–6) opened the day with a 45–4 loss to a nationally ranked NC State squad, as the Wolfpack (5–2) brought a lineup stacked with multiple wrestlers featured in the national polls.

Morgan State's highlight came from No. 32 Eugene Harney, who delivered an impressive 12–2 major decision over the Wolfpack's Luca Felix. Harney controlled the match from start to finish, racking up scoring opportunities and showcasing the poise and pace that have made him one of the Bears' most consistent performers this season.

In the second dual of the afternoon, Morgan State — which defeated Davidson last season — fell to the Wildcats, 43–8, in a matchup controlled by Davidson.

The Wildcats (2-5) recorded four pins courtesy of Marley Washington (141), Tanner Peake (165), Marc Koch (184), and Daniel Elyash (197). Davidson also picked up six points each via a medical forfeit from Morgan State's Kyle Grey and a forfeit at heavyweight.

Morgan State's duo of No. 31 Javaan Yarbrough and No. 32 Eugene Harney once again showcased why they are among the program's top performers. Yarbrough secured a third-period pin over Kiyan Simon at 133 pounds (6:17). Harney followed with an 8–1 decision over Anderson Heap at 149.

Despite a challenging afternoon, the Bears continued to show competitiveness and development across the lineup, highlighted by strong individual performances from their nationally ranked standouts.

The Bears will return to the mat next Sunday, December 14, when they host the Purdue Boilermakers.
