I think the makeup of this team is that they are great kids, are open to learning, and want to be great. Every day we preach be the best version of yourself on and off the court and that's what gets me excited.

NORFOLK, Va. - The 2025 Mid Eastern Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Media Day took place in Norfolk, Va., October 7-8. Representing the Morgan State women's basketball team was junior forward Maya Woodson and senior guard Ja'la Bannerman.  On the men's side, senior guard Alfred Worrell Jr. and graduate student guard Walter Peggs Jr. were in attendance.

Two student-athletes from each conference institutions men's and women's basketball programs gathered in Norfolk to take part in meetings, photo shoots, a kids clinic, and media day over the two-day span of events.

By the end of it, the results of the preseason polls were in and preseason team honors were handed out. Bannerman was named a first-team honoree on the women's side, while Peggs picked up third-team accolades for the men. The women's team was selected to finish fifth in the league, while the men were voted fourth.

My overall experience at the MEAC Media Day has been great. I've experienced a lot, and having been here last year as well, it's a little different. Having the sports clinic and being involved with the kids brings a lot of joy to me, as that's something I want to do in the future. It's been great all around and they've taken good care of us and have made us feel welcomed!

This was definitely a great experience and a blessing to be out here. Allowing me to come and meet different groups of players, being able to see what MEAC Nation brings to the basketball community, and to help younger kids at a clinic is great. I enjoy being a leader and representing Morgan.

I really enjoyed the clinic we had for the kids. It was a super great experience to see the kids in their element. At their age, basketball is such an exciting thing and you don't know what's next to come, yet you have so much to learn. We really got to be ourselves and show them our personalities, while teaching them basic skills, even in life - communication, teamwork...I was really happy to be there. I saw nothing but laughs and smiles and hope that we can do it again.

The MEAC Youth Clinic was a great experience for Morgan State University. We got to see the smiles on the kids faced from 2-on-2, to King of the Court, and finished it out with a great round of knockout. Engaging with the kids, where they wanted to learn, wanted to eventually be in our shoes. Sharing the process and journey was a way to connect with the kids. Overall, it was a beautiful and amazing time.

It means the world to me representing Morgan, the National Treasure, coming down here and representing a great university, historic program, and taking it to the next level. Having these two guys - class gentlemen - on and off the court. They're very good students and basketball players. It's a great feeling and to be here in person is even better. We're on a national stage and we want to do things on a national level.
