BENEATH THE SURFACE: Emily Jones

Bears in the Spotlight

Week after week, the student-athletes of Morgan State University continue to excel, not only in competition but also in the classroom and beyond. The 'Beneath the Surface Spotlight' provides a glimpse into the lives of these extraordinary student-athletes, revealing the human stories behind their athletic achievements. These individuals are not only exceptional athletes but also outstanding scholars, leaders, and role models for generations to come.

Emily Jones
Women's Basketball

Class: Senior
Hometown: San Francisco, Calif.
Major: Information Systems

Emily Jones, a guard on the Morgan State women's basketball team, concluded the 2023-24 campaign appearing in 30 games, making 17 starts. She finished second on the team in assists (46), third in total minutes (627), tied for third in three-pointers made (11) and fifth in steals (34).

A native of San Francisco, Calif., Jones may appear to be quiet, but don't let that fool you.

Jones, has made a career of entering a game and providing the Lady Bears with a spark when needed. Whether it's getting a defensive stop by forcing an errant pass, taking a charge or recording a steal and turning it into a transition basket, that has been her calling card.

As she approaches her upcoming senior campaign, Jones will look to have that breakout season, as she builds upon her contributions in hopes of helping Morgan State capture that elusive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship.
