Campbell Named Senior Associate Athletics Director For Student Services

BALTIMORE, Md. (June 17, 2024)--Morgan State Vice President/Director of Athletics Dena Freeman-Patton has announced the addition of Keshia Campbell to the Morgan State athletics department as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student Services.
 
Campbell will be responsible for oversight of sports medicine, strength and conditioning, student development (personal and career) and other student services areas. 
 
"Ms. Campbell is a welcomed addition to the Bear Family," said Freeman-Patton. "She brings a wealth of knowledge within intercollegiate athletics that will enhance the experiences of our student-athletes."
 
Campbell, who brings nearly 30 years of experience in athletics administration to Morgan State University, has a well-rounded background and is dedicated to the mission of HBCUs. She has experience as an athletics administrator at the university, conference and NCAA levels, as well as experience as a faculty member and coach.

Campbell comes to Morgan State after recently serving as the Interim Director of Athletics at her alma mater, South Carolina State University, where she became the second female athletics director to lead the S.C. State program.
 
She previously served several years in education in the public sector in South Carolina as a physical education and personal health teacher, following her time as Senior Associate Commissioner at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).  
   
Prior to her stint at the CIAA, she was Director of Business Affairs and Lean Coordinator at the University of Texas at Dallas (2009-11). Prior to that, Campbell served as Assistant Director of Championships at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), before being promoted to Associate Director of Championships (2006-09).   
  
No stranger to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Campbell served as an Assistant Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator (2004-05) at former MEAC member Hampton University, before being promoted to Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator for the Pirates (2005-06). Campbell would return to Hampton in 2011 as the Director of Athletics.  
   
Campbell, who is a member of the South Carolina State Athletics Hall of Fame, was named MEAC Player of the Year while playing basketball for the Lady Bulldogs and is a member of the MEAC 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. She would serve seven years as head women's basketball coach at S.C. State and was named MEAC Coach of the Year in 2001.  
   
A native of Blenheim, S.C., Campbell, who was valedictorian at Blenheim High School, earned both a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's in rehabilitation counseling at S.C. State.  
   
Campbell is a 2008 graduate of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) HERS Institute and a 2006 graduate of the NCAA's Inaugural Leaderships Institute for Ethnic Minority Females.
