BETHLEHEM, Pa. (March 2, 2024) — The Morgan State men's tennis team took down Wagner in a thrilling 4-2 victory on Saturday, March 2 at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The match began with a decisive doubles victory for the Bears. Senior Mikeal Carpenter and junior Makkijha Brown set the tone for the match with a 6-2 win against Sebastian Dobson and Kunsh Moolchandani on court 1. Next, Bertin Karenzi and junior Niles Rachal beat Aryan Gupta and Lucas Darling 6-4 to clinch the doubles point for Morgan on court 2.
The Bears (2-3) carried the momentum into the singles, claiming three individual matches against the Seahawks (1-9). Morgan junior Makkijha Brown downed Aryan Gupta 6-3, 6-2 on court three and started a cascade of Bear wins. Next, Bertin Karenzi defeated Sebastian Dobson 6-3, 2-6, 11-9, claiming another point for the Bears. Morgan put their second and final point on the board as freshman Anthony Parris beat Kunsh Moolchandani 6-1, 6-2 on court 5.
Morgan is back in action this weekend in Texas. The Bears take on Texas &M - Corpus Christi on Friday, March 8, followed by The University of Texas Rio Grande on Saturday, March 9.
