RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 9, 2024)--Playing in its first road contest of the season, the Morgan State women's basketball team dropped a 93-39 non-conference decision to Richmond on Saturday afternoon at Robins Center.

Morgan State (2-1) would suffer its first loss of the season, while the Spiders (2-0) remained unbeaten.

Ja'la Bannerman led the Lady Bears with 12 points on 4-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.
Dakota Alston added six points on 2-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc and
Nakilah Johnson came off the bench to score six.

Richmond scored the first 10 points of the game and held a 34-11 advantage after a quarter of play and never looked back. The Spiders, who led 52-22 at the intermission, held its largest lead of the game at 93-36 (57 points) on a jumper by Steph Ouderkirk with 2:24 remaining in the game.

Sam Dewey and Anna Camden both came off the bench to score a game-high 15 points for the Spiders to lead four Richmond players in double figures scoring. Alyssa Jimenez also came off the bench to score 13 points, while starter Rachel Ullstrom finished with 11. Maggie Doogan pulled down a game-high nine boards to help the hosts hold a 40-21 rebounding advantage over the Lady Bears.

Morgan State will head to Norfolk, Va. to take on Old Dominion on Monday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
