Bears Take Fifth Place at MEAC Cross Country Championships

SMYRNA, Del. (Nov. 2, 2024) – The Morgan State men's cross country team placed fifth in Saturday morning's 2024 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship, hosted by Delaware State at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center.

Norfolk State dominated the event, decisively securing the top spot in the standings and marking a significant milestone by capturing their fifth consecutive title. North Carolina Central followed in second place, while Howard rounded out the podium in third.

Eagles runner Meshack Kuyo led the pack with an impressive time of 23:18.2, followed closely by Sp
artans Brian Rotich at 23:34.6 and Raphael Kitir at 23:59.9. Victor Jumo and Gidion Sigei also made their mark, finishing in the top five with times of 24:18.8 and 24:20.4, respectively.

The Bears put forth a commendable effort, finishing fifth overall with a total of 107 points. Senior Perry Bennett led the Bears, finishing in 12th place with a time of 25:45.6. He was supported by a strong group of teammates, including freshman Caleb Mincey, who clocked in at 26:22.4, and senior Davian Gray at 26:41.8. Freshman Samuel Skinner (27:39.6), senior Rushane Fullerton (28:21.8), and junior Dante Jackson (36:22.6) also contributed to the team's total time of 2:51:13.
 
The top 15 finishers in the conference were recognized for their outstanding performances, earning All-MEAC honors. Notably, senior Perry Bennett and freshman Caleb Mincey both earned the prestigious recognition.
