Morgan State Athletics Teams Up with Teamworks Influencer for NIL Success

BALTIMORE – Morgan State University Athletics, in partnership with Teamworks Influencer, has launched the Morgan State NIL Exchange to connect student-athletes and businesses for name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities. The Morgan State NIL Exchange expands the University's relationship with Teamworks and Influencer which began in 2018.

Free to both student-athletes and commercial enterprises, the Morgan State NIL Exchange provides a customized portal for communicating with student-athletes and fulfilling NIL transactions. The Morgan State NIL exchange will be the central marketplace for all NIL information, education, opportunities, and reporting.

"We are excited to launch the Morgan State NIL exchange which will allow our student-athletes to maximize their NIL potential," said Vice President and Director of Athletics, Dena Freeman-Patton. "We firmly believe our student-athletes deserve the same opportunity as their counterparts across the country. We aimed to make the NIL process seamless for our student-athletes and supporters while staying compliant with the NCAA regulations and the Maryland State laws. We are thrilled to offer this marketplace for our student-athletes to grow their brand and explore their entrepreneurial spirit."

After registering on the Morgan State NIL Exchange, a business can access a database of Morgan State student-athletes, searchable by various criteria, to message a student-athlete directly or request contact information. Influencer and Morgan State will not be involved in any NIL negotiations.

With the Influencer app, student-athletes will have access to third parties that provide opportunities that range from autographs to promoting brands on social media to endorsements, as well as camps, clinics, private sports lessons, personal appearances, supporting charitable organizations, and more.

Every Morgan student-athlete will have access to Influencer's content delivery system. The first-class system allows student-athletes to immediately and seamlessly access media, photography, video and other content to bolster their online preset. The system also provides analytics that will help student-athletes measure audience engagement.

Once an NIL agreement is reached, a customized reporting form compliant with the State of Maryland law and Morgan State Athletics Name, Image and Likeness guidelines is created and forwarded to Morgan State University.

The Morgan State NIL Exchange also includes a payment processing tool to securely pay student-athletes and create a 1099 form that is housed in the Influencer app for more efficient tax reporting. The platform will continue to provide education on NIL issues, including financial literacy and brand building while providing market research and tracking social media growth and engagement.
