Morgan State Student-Athletes to Receive Degrees Saturday

BALTIMORE, Md. (May 17, 2023) — On Saturday, May 20th forty (40) current and former Morgan State student-athletes will receive degrees from the University. The 146th Spring Commencement ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Hughes Memorial Stadium.
 
The ceremony will be outdoors, except in the case of severe weather. You do not need tickets, and there are no reserved seats.
 
The complete list of athletics graduates is below.

Included among the graduates are …  
  • Victoria Fletcher is one of five (5) members of the softball program that will earn degrees and she became the third MSU player to earn MEAC Player of the Year. An All-MEAC second team third baseman and All-MEAC third team pitcher, Fletcher led the MEAC in RBIs with 43. She led Morgan in at bats (139), hits (38), doubles (9) and home runs (7). As a pitcher, she led the team in ERA (2.20) and was second on the team in wins (9) and strikeouts 42.
  • Nine (9) football players will earn degrees, including running back Alfonzo Graham who was the top running back in the MEAC with 1,150 rushing yards (the 6th highest single-season total in school history) on 196 carries and eight touchdowns. He averaged 104.5 yards per game in his senior campaign while earning First-Team All-MEAC honors in 2022. 
  • JaNiah Henson completed the 2022-23 season averaging 14.0 points per game which was second on the team. She earned All-MEAC First Team honors, while leading the MEAC in free throw percentage at 86% and finished ranked 38th in the nation in free throw percentage. Henson, who helped the Lady Bears to the school's second WNIT appearance, finished her career ranked 16th all-time at Morgan in steals (127). She was named Second Team BOXTOROW All-American.
  • Five (5) men's basketball players will earn degrees, including Isaiah Burke who made his mark as one of the top players in the MEAC and completed the 2022-23 season averaged 18.7 points per game, which ranked No. 2 in the MEAC. Burke racked up a number of postseason accolades, including: First Team BOXTOROW All-America Team selection; First Team All-MEAC; named to All-District Second Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC); and was selected to participate in the HBCU All-Star Game.
