Men's Tennis Falls 4-2 to Le Moyne

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 4, 2023) -- The Morgan State men's tennis team pushed Le Moyne on Saturday night but dropped a 4-2 decision at Coppermine Bare Hills.
 

The Bears fall to 1-5 on the season, while Le Moyne improved to 5-1.
 

Morgan State earned the doubles point winning to take a 1-0 advantage, however the Dolphins won four of the five matches to be completed in the singles competition to earn the 4-2 victory.
 
Sebastian Lopez and Makkijha teamed for a 6-4 victory over the Dolphins' Tom Jarry and Ethan Miller at No. 1 doubles. Rhajzon Rankins and Niles Rachal won their No. 2 match, defeating Peter Hatton and Manuel Righi 7-5.
 
In singles action, Le Moyne's Peter Hatton rallied to defeat Mikeal Carpenter 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1. Tom Jarry dropped Sebastian Lopez 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Manuel Righi recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Rhajzon Rankins at No. 3 singles.

Niles Rachal earned a 6-1, 6-1 win for the Bears at No. 4 against Kacper Piekarek. Ethan Miller held on for a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Bertin Karenzi at No. 5 singles. Rodrigo Beires was leading Makkijha Brown 2-1 in the first set at the sixth spot when the match was decided.
 
Next up for Morgan State will be a non-conference contest against Navy on Sunday, March 5 at 12 p.m. in Annapolis, Md.
