Men’s Tennis Defeats Hartford C.C.

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 13, 2023) – Five members of the Morgan State men's tennis team registered singles victories during a 6-1 win by the Bears against Hartford C.C. (2-1), Friday at Twin Lakes Tennis Club.
 
The Bears improve to 2-5 on the season, while the Fighting Owls dropped its first match of the season and falling to 2-1.
 
Bertin Karenzi helped clinch the doubles point for the Bears as he recorded a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles against Jesse Faro. 
 
Bertin Karenzi and Rhajzon opened doubles action with a 6-2 win at the No. 2 flight against Antonin Lebourne and Pablo Poleo. The Bears' duo of Carpenter and Martial Kawunda won their No. 3 match 6-4 against Filip Bazant and Paulo Reis Jr. to clinch the doubles point. 
 
Rhajzon Rankins increased the Bears advantage to 2-0 advantage with his 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Morgan posted wins by Martial Kawunda at No. 6 singles and then Karenzi earned the match-clinching fourth team point at No. 5 singles.
 
Hartford broke into the win column when Antonin Leborne held on for a 7-6, 6-1 victory against Sebastian Lopez at No. 2 singles. Carpenter posted a 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 victory against Jaroslav Majsajdr at No. 1 singles.
