DEPTFORD, N.J. (Jan. 21, 2023)--The Morgan State Lady Bears improved upon their Friday Baker total pinfall scoring in Saturday's traditional matches at the Northeast Classic at Bowlero Lanes. The Bears are in 12
th place out of 33 teams, with 22 of the 25 teams ranked in the top 25 in the field.

- Morgan State beating #8 Sam Houston State University in Match 1 of traditional play.
- Morgan had a score over 1,000 in each of the first four traditional games.
- Cheyenne Washington finished 10th in the individual standings with a 217.8 average for 5 games bowled.

In the final round of the day, Morgan State bowled against #3 ranked Vanderbilt. In a match which saw tough carry for the Bears and uncharacteristic open frames, it was too much to make up against Vanderbilt who had two players with strings of strikes throughout the match. Morgan State scoring: Washington 200, Adams, 192, Berrios, Hill and Beaman each had games of 160. Â

"Day 2 saw our players step up the consistency in their execution, using what they learned on Friday to their advantage," said Morgan State head coach Tom Falbo. "We left too many pins standing in the last match due to unfortunate carry or missed makeable spares, but it doesn't take away from the great weekend. Tomorrow is a new day. We'll stay in our process and plan to play even stronger tomorrow."
Cheyenne Washington's performance earned her 10th in the individual standings in a field of 208 players. She had four games over 200 out of the five games bowled: (243-222-181-238-200).

Tomorrow the Bears enter the Bracket Round Best of 7 Baker match play in 12
th place. They will face Central Missouri who is seeded 11th in the first match of the day. There will be three rounds of bracket play to determine the final finishing order in the tournament.
