Morgan State Too Much For Defending Champs; Defeats Howard, 71-49

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 21, 2023)--Morgan State's women's basketball team visited Beltway rival and defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament champion Howard on Saturday afternoon at Burr Gymnasium. Last year the two spilt the season series, each winning on their own home floor.

It was the Lady Bears' largest road victory at Howard since a 16-point (68-52) win on Feb. 1, 2020.

Henson, finished the afternoon knocking down 10-of-16 field goals, including 4-for-9 from three-point range. Shepherd added seven field goals and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Howard finished the game shooting 18-for-47 from the floor, including 4-for-11 from beyond the three-point arc. The Bison also connected on 9-of-17 from the charity stripe.

The visiting Lady Bears hit 29-of-59 from the floor and was 7-for-20 from long-range. Morgan State went to the line just nine times, converting on six of them.

The Lady Bears will entertain the Spartans of Norfolk State on Monday, Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two 2021-22 MEAC regular season champions since last year's MEAC semifinal contest.
