Morgan State Falls To Georgetown, 7-0

BALTIMORE, Md. (March 5, 2022)-The Morgan State women's tennis team returned home and dropped a 7-0 non-conference decision to visiting Georgetown on Saturday afternoon.
 
Morgan State fell to 0-5 on the season, while Georgetown earned its first victory of the season and improved to 1-9.
 
"Today wasn't a great showing for us," said Morgan State head coach Matthew Townes. "Thankfully we got an opportunity to bounce back tomorrow."
 
Doubles
The Hoyas claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Georgetown's Chloe Bendetti and Olivia Ashton teamed together to record a 6-4 victory over Morgan State's Averiana Mitchell and Asmara Rose at the No. 1 position.
 
The Lady Bear's tandem of Hannah Smith and Ana-Lei Kalawe defeated the Hoya's McHaley Ho and Avantika Willy, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
 
However, Agata Mikos and Nadine Del Carmen of Georgetown gave the guests the doubles point with their 6-0 victory over Morgan State's Anabel Torrente and Stefania Moysiadi in the No. 3 spot.
 
Singles
The Hoyas swept all six singles matches on the afternoon. Hannah Smith took Georgetown's Chloe Bendetti to three sets in a No. 2 singles contest, before eventually losing 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 (4).
 
Next Up: The Lady Bears will have a quick turnaround, as they will host Harford Community College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
