Morgan State To Host Seventh Annual James Brown Bowling Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 9, 2022) – The Morgan University Lady Bears' bowling team will host their seventh annual James Brown Bowling Invitational this weekend (Friday, Feb. 11, 2022-Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022) at the AMF Towson Lanes in Towson, Md.
 
"This weekend brings 16 teams from along the east coast and south to Baltimore for our tournament," said Morgan State head coach Thomas Falbo. "It's an honor to host these great teams and looking forward to an exciting weekend."
 
This year's sixteen-team field, including Morgan State, features six (6) National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) nationally ranked teams in the latest NTCA Coaches Poll. Those teams making their way to the Baltimore area are: Alabama A&M, Chestnut Hill, Coppin State, #14 Delaware State, #12 Duquesne, Fayetteville State, Felician, Kutztown, Mount Aloysius, #16 Morgan State, #9 Mount Saint Mary's, #4 North Carolina A&T, Saint Francis-Pa., Saint Francis-Brooklyn, #18 Maryland Eastern Shore and Virginia State.
 
The event gets underway on Friday, Feb. 11 with five (5), five-game Baker matches at 10 a.m. Bowling continues on Saturday first with the recognition of seniors at 9 a.m., followed by the five (5) Traditional Team matches starting at 10 a.m.
 
The tournament concludes on Sunday with bracket style play with the best-of-seven Baker match positioning rounds beginning at 8:30 a.m. The awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the tournament.
 
"Our ladies are rested and healthy and their games continue to improve," said Falbo. "They are ready to face the last month of the regular season head on, striving to reach new heights."
 
Formerly known as the MSU Bowling Tournament, it was renamed the James Brown Invitational in 2012 after Morgan State's first head bowling coach. The tournament had a four-year hiatus, until it returned in 2017. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This will be the 15th all-time bowling tournament hosted by the program.
 
From 2007-13, the MSU Bowling Invitational/James Brown Invitational was considered to the be largest collegiate bowling tournament in the country.
