SETTING THE STAGE
Morgan State (10-13,5-6) will host the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks on Monday at Hill Field House.  The Bears will enter the game coming off an 76-69 win at Delaware State on Saturday. Eastern Shore (10-13, 5-7) beat Coppin State 70-50 on Saturday in Princess Anne, Maryland. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on morganstatebears.com.

SENIOR NIGHT
Morgan State senior student-athletes Lagio Grantsaan (Utrecht, The Netherlands//Via Nova College), Keith McGee (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia HS), Sherwyn Devonish (Bladensburg, Md./Wise HS), Seventh Woods (Columbia, S.C./Hammond HS), Elijah Bowens (Bowie, Md./Maret School), and Trevor Moore (Houston, Texas/Wheatley HS) who will be playing in their final home games Monday night at Hill Field House. The six Bears will be honored in a pregame ceremony.

THE SERIES
• Monday's contest will mark the 95th matchup between the schools ... The Bears lead the series 55-39.
• The Bears last win against Eastern Shore was on Feb. 8, 2020 ... Three Bears scored in double-figures, and Morgan State defeated the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks 61-53 at Hill Field House. Senior forward David Syfax Jr scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds, sophomore Malik Miller added 13 points and six rebounds, and junior Troy Baxter Jr chipped in 12 points.
• Jan. 31, 2022 -- Donchevell Nugent  scored a game-high 23 points on 6 of 11 shooting to lead Maryland Eastern Shore to a 79-72 victory over Morgan State on Monday night at Hytche Arena. Nathaniel Pollard finished with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds with three blocked shots for the Hawk. Chad Venning led Morgan with 15 points as a reserve, while Sherwyn Devonish and Keith McGee had 13 points apiece. De'Torrion Ware chipped in nine points with eight rebounds.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS (10-13, 5-7)
• Jason Crafton was announced as the head coach of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team on April 24, 2019. The 18-year-veteran of coaching spent this past season in the NBA ranks as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers' G-League affiliate Delaware Blue Coats. Prior to that, he was the head coach at his alma mater, Nyack College from 2012-18. He spent the beginning of his career as an assistant at the United States Naval Academy and Villanova University.
• The Hawks opted out of competition during the 2020-21 year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Eastern Shore was picked eighth in the eight-team 2021-22 MEAC regular season standings ... Junior Da'Shawn Phillip (Baltimore, Maryland) has earned preseason All-MEAC honors for the second consecutive season.
• Junior guard Dom London and senior guard Zion Styles leads the Hawks. London is averaging 10.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and is shooting 44.2 percent from the three. Styles is currently averaging 10.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and is shooting 39.6 percent from the field.
• Da'Shawn Phillip is chipping in 9.1 points, 4.4 boards, and 3.3 assists, while 6-5 forward Nathaniel Pollard Jr. leads the Hawks on the glass by averaging 6.7 rebounds per contest.
• Eastern Shore ranks among the top defensive teams in the league ... the Hawks rank No. 1 i steals (10.3), No. 2 in scoring defense (66.0), No. 3 in opponent rebounds (35.0) and No. 4 in opponent field goal percentage (.425).
• Eastern Shore's Last Game -- On Saturday (February 26), the University of Maryland Eastern Shore cruised to a 70-50 win over the Coppin State University Eagles inside the Hytche Center. Kevon Voyles had a career high 17 points in the game and was followed by Chace Davis who had 14 points.

A WIN WOULD...
• Be MSU's third consecutive win.
•  Be MSU's first win vs. Eastern Shore since 2/8/20.
•  Improve MSU's home record to 8-3 this season.
•  Be MSU's fourth MEAC win in its last five games played.

LOOKING AHEAD 
Morgan State and Coppin State will clash in the regular season finale on Thursday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. inside PEC Arena. 

THREE PLAYERS AVERAGING DOUBLE-FIGURES 
The Bears will enter Monday's game against Maryland Eastern Shore with three players averaging double-digits.
• Senior guard Malik Miller is the team's leading scorer averaging 12.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and is shooting 53.6 percent from the field.
• Junior De'Torrion Ware is the team's second leading scorer averaging 11.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and is shooting 33.6 percent from the field ... he recorded a season-high 27-point outing vs. St. Mary's College of Maryland (Nov. 9).
• Senior forward Lagio Grantsaan is averaging 10.5 points, to go along with 5.7 rebounds and is shooting 49.7 percent from the field.

OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
• The Bears are currently averaging 76 points (No. 2 in MEAC) thru 23 games.
• Morgan exploded for 118 points in its 2021-22 season opener versus St. Mary's College of Maryland and followed it up with a 126-71 win against Penn State Allegheny. The Bears beat Goucher 100-41.
• The Bears are shooting 43.4 percent from the field (ranked No. 4) and 31.1 percent from beyond the arc (No. 6).
Morgan ranks third in the MEAC with 33.2 points per game in the paint

TURNOVER MARGIN
Through games played on Sunday, Feb. 27, Morgan ranked T-No. 9 in the nation in turnover margin (5.0 ratio, with 259 turnovers and 344 opponent turnovers).

BEAR D 
Morgan has started off the 2021-22 campaign by allowing opponents to 74.7 points per game (rank No. 7 in MEAC) and 44.8 percent shooting from the field (No. 8).
• MSU's opponents have shot at a 37.6 percent clip on average from beyond the arc ... this ranks No. 8 in the conference.
• The 19.7 turnovers per game Morgan's defense forces ranks No. 2 in the country ... MSU's 8.5 steals per game ranks No. 29 in the nation.

STREAKING
Morgan has made at least one 3-pointer played in its last 174 games ... That 3-point streak began after the Bears went 0-for-11 against North Carolina Central on Feb. 20, 2016 (Hill Field House). 
• Morgan has made at least three 3-pointers in 122 of 133 games since the start of the 2017-18 season.
• The Bears made a school single-game record 15 three-pointers (on 32 attempts) at South Carolina State on Jan. 10, 2022…Morgan won that road game, 88-81 in overtime.
