Softball Ends Tournament With Loss To Host Elon, 2-0

ELON, N.C. (Feb. 20, 2022)-Morgan State closed out the Elon Tournament with a 2-0 non-conference loss to the host Pheonix on Sunday afternoon at Hunt Softball Park.
 
Morgan State fell to 0-4 during the weekend, while Elon improved to 7-2 on the season.
 
The Lady Bears would outhit Elon, 5-3, but would commit two errors, one of which would prove costly.
 
Elon broke a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth inning when M White doubled to left center to score K Wells and give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Wells, who singled to left center with one out, would later advance to second on a Morgan State throwing error, before scoring on White's RBI double.     
 
The Phoenix tacked on their second and final run of the day when G Schaal flied out to left field to score D Menscer.
 
Elon's McKenzie Weber went the distance and improved to 2-0 on the season. Weber allowed five hits, two walks and struck out two batters in the win.
 
Morgan State will travel to Hampton, Va. next week for the Hampton Tournament (Feb. 26-27). The Lady Bears will face host and former Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe, Hampton in the opener on Saturday, before closing out Day 1 against Wagner. On Sunday, Morgan State will repeat with both Hampton and Wagner.
