2021 MEAC Tournament Bracket

NORFOLK, Va., March 11, 2021 – The North Carolina A&T State Aggies defeated the Lady Bears of Morgan State 69-54 in women's semifinal action at the Air Force Reserve Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Basketball Tournament at the Norfolk Scope on Friday, keeping hopes alive of winning their third MEAC crown in six years.

With the victory, the Aggies (13-2), who are the No. 1 seed from the Southern Division, will take on Howard (15-3), the top seed from the Northern Division, in Saturday's championship game at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Howard earned its berth to the title game with a 50-44 win over Norfolk State earlier in the day on Friday.

Saturday's championship will be televised live on ESPN3 and rebroadcast on ESPNU.

"We're going to do everything we can to represent Aggie Pride and leave our mark," Aggies head coach Tarrell Robinson said. "We're playing a really, really tough Howard team. Coach Ty Grace is a friend of mine and a remarkable coach. They're playing out of their minds. It's going to be a tough game and we're excited about it. I think it's in great fashion – the number one team in the North playing the number one team in the South. It's going to be a good game for our fans, both the Bison and the Aggies."

North Carolina A&T State jumped out to an early 5-0 lead over the Lady Bears and never looked back. The Aggies held a 33-23 lead at the half.

In the opening minutes of the third quarter, the Aggies went on a 6-0 run to take a 16-point lead at 39-23 off a Sean Kelly Darks layup and ensuing free throw at the 7:52 mark of the period. The closest Morgan State would get after that was within seven points at 58-51 with just 3:42 left on a pair of Adia Brisker free throws.

However, the Aggies managed to take their lead back up to 16 when Jayla Jones-Pack scored on a layup in the closing seconds of the game.

For the game, the Aggies shot 42.2 percent from the field, compared to Morgan State's 28.6 percent mark. NCAT was red hot from three-point range, connecting on 8-of-16 shots (50%) while Morgan State misfired from the arch, going 0-for-10.

Deja Winters proved to be more than Morgan State could handle, as the senior scored 22 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field and 6-of-11 shooting from 3-point range. Senior forward/center Jayla Jones-Pack added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Aggies.

Morgan State (12-4) had two players score in double figures, including Adia Brisker with a game- and career-high 23 points and Dahnye Redd, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and with 10 rebounds.
